If you want to make a quick boost in the results your copy brings home, take a look at some of the better books on the subject of copywriting, and marketing in general. Some of the very best learning you can do about writing copy comes from inexpensive books on the subject - and even books off the subject.
Great writers improve their writing by reading books. This is a great way to improve your skills in the copywriting field, too. Today, I’ll offer you a few suggestions for books that will quickly boost your copywriting results.
Three of these books are about copywriting. A fourth book is off-topic, but still valuable for learning.
First, I would recommend Robert Collier’s wonderful tome, The Robert Collier Letter Book. Collier himself wrote many of the ads featured in his book, a classic in the copywriting and marketing field. The language is old-fashioned, even quaint, but the basic principles are powerful.
John E. Kennedy’s Reason Why Advertising is a fantastic book. It is harder to find than the others. At the end of this article, I will provide you with resources to find books like this.
And my fourth suggestion is my off-the-subject book. It is not a book about copywriting, but it IS about selling! This is a book that you will enjoy if you are a mouse, or if you live in a house; if you are a fox, or if you are in a box! That’s right! It’s Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss.
You may be surprised to learn that Green Eggs and Ham can teach you persistence when making your sales. Learn how to come to an agreement with your potential clients so they become paying customers. It may seem silly, but you can learn important marketing lessons from Dr. Seuss.
