All of us know the big name stocks by heart. You hear about them all the time on CNBC and The Wall Street Journal. We hear about them constantly. Companies like Exxon, Microsoft, Wal-Mart, are always going to grab the headlines when they report earnings.

These are the companies that people invest in for steady growth and income in their portfolio. It’s safe and there is nothing wrong with safe.

But does anybody think that companies like these are the ones that a trader is going to hit it big with.

You think people treat Microsoft like some kind hidden gem? Of course not! They know that the value is already built in the market. There is definitely a ceiling on potential growth.

But if a person had the intuition to buy into Microsoft when it was a small and unknown company, then that’s a different story altogether. But if you want to be one of the successful traders and investors, you need to have that kind of foresight.

You’re never going to see a chance like that following the stocks that CNBC covers. For that kind of stock market potential, you really need to set you sights on something a little different. Try penny stock trading.

Most investors don’t rally get too excited by the mention of penny stocks, but you never know where that next Microsoft might be hiding. Remember that every company had to start from somewhere. After all, it’s not like Microsoft was born a billion dollar company.

Every year there are companies that literally come from nowhere to be major mover in the stock market. You don’t have to look any further than all of those internet stocks. I know, I know. May of them tanked. But there were also many of them that became major players in the stock market. You can bet that most started off with modest beginnings.

Companies that are penny stocks today could be all the rage the very next year. It happens all the time.
