Dominate The Auction House In World of Warcraft

One of the easiest ways to make gold in WoW is through the Auction House. When I started out playing this game more than 3 years ago, I was insanely poor just like most low level players. I couldn’t afford anything I wanted; I never even used a potion until after level 40.

Now that I am a lot more experienced, I would like to give some tips that will help newer players to make a decent amount of gold when starting out.

I still remember vividly my first time entering Stormwind City on my level 10 human rogue. I remember entering the Auction House for the first time, drooling over a 90g dagger when I had 14 silvers in my pocket. I was one poor rogue, but I was thinking big things, the simple idea of buying low and selling high arose in my head.

This idea sounded good on paper, but how do I know which items to buy at which prices? I didn’t know. I was never sure if gold could be made from the items that I bought.

A huge time saver was to create a level 1 alternative character, I left him in the Ironforge. Every day I would logon to him to do my biddings on the Auction House.

The gold in my stash increased as time went by and as I become familiarize myself with the Auction House. My alt started with a measly 50 silvers, by the time my main reached level 40, I was able to purchase my normal mount right away and still have 30-40 gold left.

The majority of my purchases were items with very low deposit fees. This reduces the overall gold lost if items don’t sell through the first listing.

Enchanting mats were my main target as they don’t have any deposit fee, funny at the time I didn’t even know what enchanting mats were, I just knew I could make a fortune off of them.

Later, I found out about addons like Auctioneer which actually sorts out the items that are potentially profitable. Aside from the occasional UI glitch, this addon was a total lifesaver.

I made tons of mistakes my first play through; I bought many items that never sold. In fact, to this day, a few of my alts still have some pre-BC items that are completely useless now. I just keep them for memorial purposes (anyone remember the uber Beasts deck, maybe dungeon 1 item sets?).

You become stronger through the these mistakes right?
